Welcome to Lex's test HTML page. It's not much so far, but you never know - it might be one day. Then again, maybe not. Anyway, there's some stuff here which isn't very readable but should give you something to look at - can't say fairer than that. This bit is supposed to be about me. Well, I'm 31 at the moment, and male (..at the moment..) and that's about it.
I live in a tiny cottage in a village called West Down. I often think of this place as being the English equivalent of an old Western frontier town; the roads are often dusty, outsiders are noticed and rumours are the substance which makes this place tick. The village has one main street down which I often stroll with my carrier bag and my jacket and my gun. Nah, only kidding - I usually wear an anorak.
I usually visit Ye Olde Post Office And Shoppe between the hour of 1700 and 1800, though sometimes early in the morning when the shop has just opened. Rarely, I will be found shuffling off to the shop at 9 a.m. to cash my giro. This is a task which I do not enjoy since the shop is busy around that hour, and it is fairly bright and noisy. I do not like the daylight and I don't much like people either, so this activity causes me much stress (I think that this text was supposed to reflect my generous, outgoing personality. Whoops!).
One thing that I do care about is computers. I love technology, and especially sleek, black gadgets which have buttons that beep in a hi-tech way if you press them. Unfortunately, black plastic geek toys have really gone out of fashion lately (the past twenty years), and most devices seem to be veering towards cream or white. I don't like this as not only are the devices so bright that they almost cause snow blindness, but dirt is eminently noticeable and constant cleaning becomes a nuisance. I think that white (or cream) computer equipment appeared due to the emergence of the so-called Paperless Office Revolution - a revolution that never made it to reality. Looking around this room, I can see that most of the electronic items are white; think how much bleaching and chemical processing went into that whiteness. Actually, I haven't a clue whether white plastic is harsher to make than say, grey plastic. If someone knows, perhaps they could tell me so I can edit this paragraph and make it a little more accurate.
I'd very much like to expand my current network of three computers (sometimes four or five, depending on whether I boot up the Amiga 1200 or the old '386) but at the moment my finances are limited, and things are difficult when I overspend on one thing at the expense of another. For example, a couple of days ago I bought a Microsoft cordless mouse and Flight Simulator - that set me back about 70 quid and left me with five pounds to last me two weeks. Fortunately, I was able to borrow a tenner from my cousin Dom, so I will survive - but meals will consist of beans, spaghetti and other simple canned nourishments.
'I wish someone would turn the lights off.. however Dom is playing Super Nintendo so we can't.''X is completely screwed up, Dom's yelling at him - MY GOD!!! HE JUST HUGGED RAYNER!!!! - madness.'Lex and Elly, during a memorable night in December 1992.
