As to why I restored this page, the answer is simple: in Apache's access logs, I could see
that bots were looking for old pages and not finding them. Thinking that there might be some
interest in the old stuff, I found it in an archive of documents on my Google Drive space.
Please note that this site does NOT use cookies - or 'digital
mouse droppings', as the great Rhod Sharp described them - to store data
on visitors. This means that you can visit the site and return at a
later point, and it won't have a clue who you are. Don't you just love
that anonymity? Okay, so there's probably no reason to return, once
you have mistakenly visited - once bitten, twice shy, blah blah blah...
LATEST NEWS (08-Jun-24)
Five years! Well, almost five years - that's how long it's (almost) been since
this page was last served to da Interwebz. Before this page appeared, there was
a page
that I copied from the default Apache 2 one. I last mentioned that I had found an
archive of the old site and was going to restore it. This is it,
warts and all. There
are going to be a lot of those
(warts) because I had links in the Apache 2 config file
that I have not restored, so things like the 'pizza' link (below) will not work, scripts in
cgi-bin don't exist (so no user CSS, site stats, phpSysinfo).
I still have the camera, but it's in a box and I don't think that I'll get it working
again, since there's not much of a view from my current location. That's not quite true:
there's a nice tree out the back, but no sea (I'm a few miles away from it) and definitely
no gulls staring in through the kitchen window. There are pigeons, jackdaws and magpies
running amok.
